Festival 42 Costume Parade
You know it, you love it and you just can't live without it! The annual KCACTF Costume Parade will live again at Festival 42 in Overland Park, Kansas! As in years past, this year's event will be held on the Friday evening of Festival 42 (January 22). The parade will take place at the conclusion of the Irene Ryan Final Round and before festival awards are announced.
ENTRY INFORMATION
There are two ways in which you may be invited to bring costumes from a production:
1. Respondents may nominate the costumes from a particular show. The school, if choosing to participate, will select the costume entries, up to a maximum of five costumes. If your production was nominated, you will receive an e-mail message from the regional chair. This message will explain that to enter, you must do two things: First, you must officially enter your production at the “Costume Parade” entry form on the Region V website, AND e-mail up to a maximum of five (5) digital photographs as attachments in “.jpg” format, to Ronnie Chamberlain, Costume Parade Coordinator. We ask that you only submit clear, color production photographs of the costume being considered -- no renderings, please. NOTE—a nomination by a respondent does not indicate an official entry of the production—you are responsible for making your official entry.
2. Your department may also self-nominate up to five costumes for up to two productions. Those productions must have been KCACTF associate or participating entries. Again, officially enter your production at the “Costume Parade” entry form on the Region V website, AND e-mail up to a maximum of five (5) digital photographs as attachments in “jpg.” format to Ronnie Chamberlain, Costume Parade Coordinator. We ask that you only submit clear, color production photographs of the costume being considered -- no renderings, please.
Deadline: Regardless of how your show is nominated, the deadline by which all on-line entries must be made AND by which digital photographs must be received by Ronnie Chamberlain is December 4, 2009.
Other Guidelines
-All productions must have been produced during the festival year (January - December 2009) and have been an Associate or Participating entry in KCACTF.
-We encourage and expect makeup and hairstyles/wigs and accessories will be included for the Parade.
Judging and Selection Process
Once all productions have been entered and photographs received, the productions will be “blinded”—all reference to school and designer will be removed. For this reason, please do not include school name or designer name in the file-names of your photographs. (For ease in processing, please label with the show then picture #, for example a picture from The Glass Menagerie would be entitled Glass4.jpg. Be clear and concise.) These materials will then be forwarded to one or more costume designer(s) from outside Region V, who will review and rank them. These rankings will be presented to the Region V Executive Committee at the time of the Regional Selection Meeting on December 12 and 13. The Executive Committee will make the final determination of productions, based on such factors as number of spots in the parade, whether a production is already being invited as a festival production or other pertinent issues.
On or about December 14, schools will be notified as to whether or not they are being invited to the parade. Those invited will be required to RSVP about their intent to participate no later than December 16.
