5th Annual KCACTF Region V Stage Crew Showdown

You love it, you gotta have it, so gather your best and compete! KCACTF Region V presents the STAGE CREW SHOWDOWN again this year for Festival 42! Preliminary rounds will take place on Sunday evening and Monday afternoon of the festival, with the finals held on Monday night. Teams must participate in both preliminary rounds. Winners will be announced at the festival award ceremonies later in the week, culminating with the official passing of the “Golden Wrench” and “Golden Megaphone” trophies.

THE EVENT
This year’s Showdown events will include the following:
Costume Quick-Change: Change into a male and female costume consisting of shirt/blouse, pants/skirt, shoes & socks, tie/scarf and costume accessory items.
Border Tie: Calculate and cut tie-line to equal lengths and tie a border onto a stage batten with a specified fullness.
Stage Weight/Prop Placement: Move stage weights to predetermined locations and set up a simple stage set-up consisting of props and furniture items.
Knot Tying: Tie correctly 3 or 4 knots commonly used in the theatre. A bowline WILL be one of them. Check the rules/scoring document for the competition’s knots. Changes or additions will be posted at the venue.
Light Hang/Focus: Safely and correctly hang, circuit, gel, gobo and sharp focus a typical Source Four® lighting instrument
Mystery Event: Time permitting, will be announced at the venue

TEAM MAKEUP/PARTICIPATION
Teams will require four participants and all four must be bona fide students (graduate or undergraduate.) Each team must designate a team captain and a faculty/staff sponsor/coach.
Only one team from each school will initially be accepted for the competition. “2nd” or even “3rd” teams from one school should register and will be added to a waiting list. If spots remain open after the initial registration period, or if cancellations occur, teams on the waiting list will be offered the open slots.
REGISTRATION
The registration procedure will be on-line again this year with a January 14th deadline. A faculty/staff sponsor must be listed with each team’s registration. Register soon! Contact me with any questions or special needs.
